A report from Eric for mikescatchreport.com
I went out this morning to fly fish on the flats for bonefish with the rod I just made, a 9 foot 9 weight FL Optimum 909x 3 piece.

I got down to the parking lot around 5:30am as the sun was starting to rise. I walked down the beach and made my way down to my favorite spot as the tide was on its way down. It was going to bottom out at 7:45am at minus 0.1--a fairly low tide.

I rigged up and headed out toward a spot on the flats that always seems to produce fish. I made a few cast with my new FLO 909x rod and it threw line easily. After my third cast I hooked into a 3 pounder. The rod handled the fish well and had great backbone and I managed to bring the fish in with no problem.

After blessing the rod with its first catch I was forced to move. I caught another
oio but the tide was dropping fast and I needed to stay where the water was deep enough to fish. I stuck around for a while more but had no bites and since it was Mother's Day I packed it in and headed home to spend time with mom.

PS: SteveT was also out on the flats, slaying those fish today. He hooked FIVE bonefish to my two. Altogether it was a seven
oio day!

EQUIPMENT: Eric used his custom-built 9 weight rod and floating line.
