A report from Eric for mikescatchreport.com
I haven't gone fishing for three weeks and I needed to get out on the flats. I managed to get some free time in the afternoon so I packed the fly rod and headed for one of my favorite spots.
I fished for about half an hour with no action--no one wanted to take my fly. So I changed to a new pattern I tried a few weeks back.
After two casts and got a solid hook-up and when I got it in this fish weighed in at five pounds. After taking some pictures and letting this one go I made another cast in the same area and hooked up again! This one also weighed in at five pounds.
I made my way out towards the breakers, made two cast and hooked another bonefish! I stayed out a little longer and managed to catch two more bones, so it was a good day for me going five for five.
EQUIPMENT: USe a fast action 8 or 9 weight rod and floating line with an aggressively tapered leader and heavy tippet.
